Panaracer Gravel King SK TLR: The All-Rounder Tire for Avid Cyclists

Every avid cyclist is on the search for the perfect tire! Whether it’s to commute, workout, race, or anything in between, will we ever find the right balance?

I am going to share my honest thoughts on the Panaracer Gravel King SK TLR

I bought these tires right before I moved to Australia in June 2023. I was able to put them through the test in 3 different Continents with a variety terrain to ride through. After sliding around and putting them through the test, I can gladly say I had zero punctures thus far.

Riding with them on the road.

I first used these on a lot of mixed surface rides around Orange County in California where i was riding 60% road and 40% gravel. The roads in this area are known to be quite smooth but filled with random debris in the bike lanes at times. Which made getting flats a roll of the dice.

How they hold up in Gravel

I tested these tires out in Sunshine Coast, Australia riding 30+ kilometers on gravel per ride. The type of gravel varied between soft and dusty sand, mud, and sometimes large rocks the size of a golf ball. I was always kicking up rocks and quite scared the wrong pressure point might cause a flat. I’m glad to report they stayed strong at around 30psi.

If you want to see more details of the terrain I rode these tires through, feel free to look into this video I posted on YouTube last year.

Are these the right tires for you?

If you want minimal compromise between speed and off road performance I would urge you to try the gravel king. It is a jack of all trades when it comes to gravel tires. Although, if you care for the ultimate traction, I think this might not meet your expectations. On the contrary, if you are looking for the fastest gravel tire, this does give you a run for your money, but I think you will find one that meets your speed goals you little racer!

I may even purchase them again to meet my needs of riding in Okinawa and other parths of Japan comfortably.
